Retire. Goodbye Money. This makes me feel weird.

(long-sleeve)

Stopping at Great Harvest for a restroom break was not a good idea. I wanted to grab a cinnamon roll or two and plop into a chair with a hot chocolate for a few hours, instead of going back out into the cold to finish the miles. I withstood the temptation to stop and finished up the run… and had a cinnamon roll later.

I wish you could scratch this picture and smell it:

Emilee had 16 miles to do, and the rest of us did 13 @ 7:51 pace. We included 7 x 1-minute pickups with 1-minute floats (not easy but not too fast) in between, which resulted in about 2 miles @ 6:33 pace. I really like to include 3-5ish miles of speed a week during my off-season, so whenever I do decide to start a training plan again, it’s easier to get back into things. It also just feels good to get the legs turning over again.

I love my old Adizero Adios 3s a lot for everyday runs, and after probably 750 miles on these ones… they need to be retired. My body sometimes feels it’s time for a new pair of shoes after 400 miles with a running shoe, and some with much, much more. I like to pay attention to how my lower legs feel, and if things start feeling cranky, it’s time to retire a pair.

We found a nice leak in our house from our pipes and water heater downstairs… Our house was built in 1969, so stuff like this is to be expected. Goodbye money.

I’ve been getting microneedling done every 6ish weeks because I bought a bundle a few months ago and I LOVE IT. It doesn’t hurt, but it doesn’t feel good, but I have noticed my skin livening up a week or two after I have it done.

In the evening, we went and saw some incredible ice sculptures.

Followed by a BYU Women’s basketball game with a bunch of Brooke’s friends.

The girls still love to match…

And Andrew brought a cereal bar to the group of teenagers in his class for Sunday School.

We watched Alex Honnold climb the tallest skyscraper in Taiwan on Netflix. Not a rope in sight.

Beck said, “This makes me feel weird.” Me too, me too.

I’m ill over the events happening in our world. Over the 15 years of blogging, I’ve been told repeatedly that I shouldn’t be silent on these matters. But I will continue to do what I do over here to help inspire people to get out in the fresh air, to move their bodies, to help in their communities, to love, to smile, to be the helper, to bring others up. So, I will continue to blog about running/food/family, seek to find the beautiful moments, contact my representatives, turn off the electronics, talk face to face with my neighbors, teach my children to love others, and go out and serve my community.

Any shoes that have handled much more mileage than your other pairs of running shoes?

Have any highlights from your weekend?

Anything you have been thinking about doing this week to make the world a little brighter?

I’d love to hear about your run today!
