Track day! We knew it was going to be a toasty one since we were going after school drop-off, but I didn’t expect it to be quite as bad as it was… It was 81°F when we ended, and it was excellent heat training, but we definitely cut the workout short because our bodies were not used to these temperatures. Here is what we did:
2 mile w/u
4 x 1000m (between 5:50-6:00 pace), 90 sec rest, 200m (I was between 5:13-5:40 pace for these), 2 min rest.
2ish mile c/d
Total 8 miles.

I LOVE testing out a new-to-me shoe at the track. That way, if they don’t feel great, you can call it quits and get back into your tried and true running shoes very easily. I don’t mess around with the wrong shoe because I’m not looking to get plantar fasciitis again (when mine was bad, Andrew would CARRY me to the hot tub first thing in the morning to put my foot and calves in to soak before I could even think about walking).
I tried out the new Saucony Elite 3 for my last interval, and they truly felt like a trampoline. I couldn’t believe it. I also ran my fastest splits of the workout in them (and during the last set!)… They come out on June 1st, and so I’ll get in some more runs with them to give you a full review. BUT I loved them enough from the one set of intervals at the track yesterday that I’ll take them out on my next road workout.

It’s ‘splash cold water on your face during the cooldown’ degrees here.

The R8 is like a foam roller x 100. It rolls much deeper into the muscles, plus you don’t have to get down on the ground to use it. I used it for a solid 10 minutes post-workout and then took a cold shower for the first time in my life to cool down.

He put the last puzzle piece in one puzzle and, within 10 seconds, had opened another puzzle bag and dumped it on the coffee table.

My little elementary cross-country team is coming to an end… We had planned to race the mile yesterday, but with the heat, we ran a half-mile instead. Skye crushed it.

So did Beck!

And then our friends invited us to a BYU baseball game with them.

I love stadium food.
