I hope you are having a beautiful Memorial Day as we all remember and honor those who gave their lives for our freedom. I’ll keep things shortish, but here is life from the last few days:
Her last day of 2nd grade. I can’t believe it.
Jess and I ran 12 miles on Friday in the canyon at an 8:11 average. I tried out this gel, and the flavor was excellent, but it needs more calories in such a big pack (only 75).
We were challenged to a Pickleball match by my niece and one of her guy friends. I tried to dress for the job I wanted of winning. We did… thanks to Andrew.
On Saturday, Andrew and I went up the mountains for 10 miles.
We decided to include a race between the two of us. He gave me a 3-minute head start for a 10ish-minute stretch on the trail, and I beat him by 2 seconds. The fear I felt as I heard his bike coming up behind me nearly gave me a heart attack. But it was worth it. And I even FINALLY got a PR on a segment within the 10-minute race that I’ve wanted for YEARS. It is steep ups and downs the entire way, and I don’t even know how he gets up these hills on his bike, but now I need him to race meat every race from here on out with a proper head start… that got me more motivated than ever before.
We had so much fun together.
We went to dinner with some friends and I had the ultimate brownie sundae.
And the Sunday Hike Club was to Stewart Falls. It’s about 4 miles round-trip and the waterfall is stunning.
Knox couldn’t resist.
I must get to the top of this mountain this summer.
