***I’M JUST SHARING WHAT HAS WORKED FOR ME. I HAVE ZERO MEDICAL BACKGROUND AND THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE MY EXPERIENCE AS A 39, ALMOST 40, YEAR OLD WOMAN***
If you have read my blog for a while, you know I have tried every possible thing on the planet to get rid of the constant zits popping up on my face. Since I was a teenager, there have been 4 times when my skin was clear: Acutane as a teenager and my 3 pregnancies (and then throughout each month, there were a few days I wouldn’t get as many zits vs other times). I knew deep down that it was related to hormones and was told countless times that birth control would clear it up, but birth control and my brain have never mixed well. So, I just dealt with it and tried everything else to clear it up.
Until I started having night sweats galore and was wide awake from 1 am-3/4 am every night of my life, no matter how much I was running or how tired I was. Those two lovely things were causing so much fatigue that I decided it was time to figure out these hormones of mine. I had heard amazing things about Jenica (a women’s hormonal health NP) at House of Aesthetics, so I went in to see her. She sat and talked with me for an hour for our first appointment, followed by another long phone call later that week, reviewed my blood tests, and we decided to try out disolvable progesterone tablets before I go to sleep each night (PS I never drive a car on these for safety because they make me fall asleep so fast).
When I say these have been life-changing, please don’t think I’m exaggerating. Also, this isn’t sponsored in the slightest. I pay each month (I switched out my joy of having cleaners for this new luxury of hormonal health:) to meet with Jenica monthly, manage the prescription, and have labs done to make sure everything else is going well. BUT, if you do decide to go in and see her, mention I sent you, and we both get $100 credits.
Okay, back to the life-changing thing. My labs showed that my progesterone was very low, and that is what was causing the night sweats and trouble sleeping. After my first time trying the tablet, I woke up the next morning in the same position I had fallen asleep in, 8.5 hours later, with no need to shower from sweating. It was glorious. GLORIOUS. And it has continued to do this for me for a few months now!
I DON’T EVER THINK OF NAPPING ANYMORE. I’m getting such sound sleep at night, which makes everything in life feel better. I mean, I’m not Superman now, and busy times of life definitely have me feeling tired, but I have way more energy than usual.
And then, on top of that, I have CLEAR SKIN now. I’ve had one small zit. ONE. Since I got my progesterone levels to an optimal spot. I am not doing any other hormones yet, but I plan to fully take advantage of Hormonal Replacement Therapy over the years. I’ve read a few books, listened to every podcast on the topic, and love working with Jenica, so this is just part of the budget now because I want to feel as good as I possibly can through my Cougar Puberty years (I heard cougar puberty once and can’t stop using it).
My blood tests also showed I was low in Vitamin D, Iodine, and Iron so I am also working with Jenica on how to boost those important things up with supplements, along with lowering my LDL Cholesterol (hereditary but I am working hard to up my fiber, Omega 3s with things like lentils, avocados, tuna, salmon etc to do everything I can to naturally lower it).
Anyway, just wanted to share what is working for me because I’ve been telling you way too much information for over 15 years now, and I plan to for another 15.
I would love to hear if anyone else is finding things to help their overall health and make life better overall.
Should I stop oversharing, or are these types of posts interesting?
