The thing I really try to teach my kids, tune-up, I was worried.

(tank, shorts, shoes)

We did our last tune-up before our 10k on Saturday–> 3.5-mile w/u, 24×200 on/float (so 12 fast ones and 12 floats)… The ons were supposed to be between 545-555 and the floats between 645-655. I felt pretty great (I’m sure the strong tailwind helped me to feel that way, too).

After my run, we took the dogs on a walk to get donuts (for the humans, not the dogs;).

14 years old and Beretta still insists on being in the lead.

Max just needs to be told every 12 seconds he is a good boy.

I’m grateful they finally all realize that maple bars > chocolate bars. I was really worried about Beck for a while there;)

I love to sneak in, as seamlessly as possible, conversations that are important to me on our walks. Yesterday we talked about how important it is to notice things. My happiest times in life are when I am good at noticing. Noticing the smallest things in the world that make me feel good. Whether it’s a flower, a hug, something nice that somebody does for me, a dessert, a clean counter, a comfortable pair of shoes, kind words, the sun, colors, nature sounds (and the list could go on forever). The more I notice, the happier I am, and I think it’s because noticing keeps us in the present, out of the ‘I’ll be happy when’ type of thinking, and makes us much more grateful for everything around us. The days when I am not noticing all of the small things that are great in the world are my most miserable ones. Long story short, I really hope to teach my kids that life is in the noticing.

Our front yard roses right now:

We spent a few hours in the backyard with a slip-and-slide situation.

And soccer practices are back up and going. My purse is stuffed with snacks for these instances.

And then we all hung out by the fire for a while.

I’m very into mixing these two cereals right now —> Frosted Mini-Wheats + Cinnamon Toast. Cereal tastes even better in the summer.

Mix cereals, or you would never?!

If you do mix cereals, what’s your favorite combo? I would love to try.

Anyone else with a dog that needs to be self-assured constantly haha?

What’s your run or workout today?
