The key to running. Is it true for everybody?

It was one of those workouts where we actually could not think about what we were going to do before starting because we did not want to do it. We were so close to talking ourselves out of doing it, but then we just kind of started, and before we knew it, we were done. I swear, the key to running is getting over the overthinking… just start, and let it happen.

3 x mile @ 6:05 average. It was 75°F when we started our run, but we hit the jackpot with the sprinklers, which were not only watering the grass but also the track. They cooled us off during each and every lap and added more an adventure feeling to the track.

Knox came home, and it was just what we all needed.

He’s the best big brother.

And a few Thursday things to get talking about:

*Beck insisted that we try this, and it’s pretty darn good.

*My niece’s hair took me straight back to my teens… I did this with my butterfly clips every day for a year straight.

*So did her shirt:

*So much of my happiness comes from the views I see outside.

*My brother’s famous S’mores Bars recipe had to be made yesterday. Jessica reminded me of it the other day, and I had to have some myself.

2  1/4 cups Graham Crackers (1.5 sleeves), crushed
2/3 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups mini marshmallows   <—————-Seriously, the more the merrier with this one!
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
3 Hershey Bars

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix together the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar.  Press into the bottom of a 13×9 in pan.  Bake for 7 minutes.  Allow to cool slightly.

Cream butter, shortening, sugar, and brown sugar together.  Blend in eggs and vanilla.  Stir in flour, salt, and baking soda.  By hand, mix in the chocolate chips and marshmallows.

Spread over the graham cracker crust.  Bake for 10 minutes.  Top with broken pieces of Hershey Bars.  Return to the oven and bake for 15 more minutes.  Remove and allow to cool before cutting.  Enjoy!

*I think the Grand Tetons are going to be somewhere we go back to each year.

*Andrew and I stayed at the cutest little cabin that Andrew found in Irwin, Idaho. Just in case you are ever in the area. We wanted to stay somewhere that felt a bit off-the-grid, in the middle of nature, and Andrew found the perfect spot. It was 90 minutes from the Tetons, but the drive was stunning.

*If you are ever in Idaho, try Reed’s Dairy ice cream. It is so creamy.

Who are you rooting for in the World Cup finals?? Argentina or Spain?

The other day, Mindy asked, “Why do smoke detectors always go out at night? I swear one has never started beeping in the middle of the day.”

-This is true for us; is it true for everyone?

How often do you go to a track?

Have anywhere you go every year?
