What a tournament! We’re always going around chasing the teenagers’ games and events, so having a tournament centered on Skye and her team made her feel like a million bucks. She has always been the best cheerleader for everyone else’s games, and it was so fun to do the same for her. And to have it in one of my favorite places, Park City, made it even better. A few of her games were out in small towns about 30 minutes away from Park City (to fit all the games they needed), and it was fun to explore those areas, too.
Skye’s team won their first game, and then we went to check into our hotel. We found it for a killer deal and couldn’t believe the price, especially during a tournament weekend. We showed up, and the entire thing was under construction… All of the windows were blacked out, and they were hammering like crazy. Turns out, because we booked through Capital One, there was no mention of it being under construction when we booked… We made a few phone calls, and they moved us over to a MUCH nicer hotel, for free! It was the first time the kids each had their own beds on a family trip;).

Friday morning, I ran from the Park City resort to the Deer Valley resort (8 miles total) and LOVED having a chill in the air. It’s always so refreshing after dozens of sweaty runs to feel a few goosebumps. I could definitely feel the elevation (Park City is at 7,000 ft!) and I was breathing much harder than I normally do at the same pace.
Skye’s team won their second game in Kamas, Utah, and then she requested a stop at the Ballerina Farmer Stand afterward… Protein ice cream, sourdough cookies, croissants, and the best strawberry lemonade slushy.

We rested at the hotel for a while and then got out to do the alpine slide before her next game.

Can you believe this place??

Her first time being able to ride it alone!

They won another game, which meant they were off to the semi-finals.
On Saturday morning, I went on my first run ever in Oakley, UT. I had 39 minutes to run during her warm-up, and I made it back with 56 seconds to spare before her game started. 5 miles @ 7:35 pace. It was beautiful there and so peaceful.

They won their semi-final game!

The temptation to go swim or run around Park City before the final game was real because we had a few hours between games, but we did our best to stay inside and stay cool!
The final game was against a very intense team (you know those coaches…). It was 95°F, the girls had been playing game after game, and the other team was so good, but Skye’s team pulled through 2-0.

We went with her team for ice cream and then celebrated Skye with her favorite, pasta, at Bartola’s. It was heavenly. We brought most of our food with us for the trip since we live so close but loved celebrating with this meal.

And then, we finally swam for hours and hours.

Now we all have to recover somehow from such an exciting few days.
