BACK AT IT!! And it felt good. The other day I was talking to a friend who loves meditation. She swears by it and the benefits it’s brought into her life. I’ve tried and tried meditation, but it’s never stuck. But as I was doing my speed workout yesterday, during the mile repeats, when we weren’t talking, we were music-free, and were deep into the feeling of flow… I realized that speed work is my meditation. I’m paying attention to my breathing, letting go of my nonstop mental chatter, and fully in the moment so many times each week with my runs.
It’s amazing how much calmer I feel after a good and hard run. Something so, so good for us comes with the repetitive motion of running, the breathing, and staying right where we are in the moment.

I was in such a flow state that I didn’t realize my arm was bleeding

I’ve missed flopping down onto the grass after a hard workout. I stayed here for some time. 10 miles total with 4 x downhill mile repeats @ 5:46 average. I needed that downhill to get my legs turning over again after 6ish weeks off from workouts.

The other day on the phone, I told my sister I was NOT looking forward to the crowds/craziness of back-to-school supply shopping. It’s one of my kids’ favorite things to do, and yet I try to get out as soon as possible because our Target/Walmart is nuts this time of year. She said, I’ll show you the way… And we went to Staples yesterday, where everything was much cheaper and completely crowd-free.

She also had coupons for free donuts afterward. She knows how to do things right.

We planned to do more summer things on the last day of summer, but decided we all wanted to hang out at home together instead.

Random tangent–> Isn’t marketing interesting? Nothing has changed in the That’s it ingredients; they just added the current hot word in nutrition, ‘FIBER,’ on the front… I wonder how adding that one word increased their sales?!

Andrew’s work was very slow for him this summer, but it’s picking back up again…

Speed and dinner at the table… Off to a great start with my goals! We had One Pan Tortellini with Chicken for dinner. I love being able to look in my fridge, enter the ingredients we have, and have the internet give me a good recipe;)

Our mountains are starting to show signs of fall, and the

after-school muffins are secured!
